Farmers stage demonstration

Eighty seven sugarcane growers, affiliated to Tamil Nadu Cane Growers’ Association, were arrested when they staged a demonstration in front of the National Sugar Mills at Alanganallur on Thursday. They were demanding immediate disbursement of outstanding dues for the sugarcane procured by the public sector sugar mill.

All the arrested farmers were released in the evening.
