Procession of cultural troupes marks Rajyotsava in Mysore

Celebration: A colourful procession marking the Kannada Rajyotsava in Mysore on Thursday.

MYSORE: The 51st Kannada Rajyotsava was celebrated in Mysore on Thursday. A procession of cultural troupes and folk artistes was the highlight of the day.

The celebrations started on the Town Hall premises with Deputy Commissioner N.S. Channappa Gowda offering flowers to a portrait of the goddess Bhuvaneshwari. He also hoisted the national tricolour and the Kannada flag. In his address, he recalled the contributions of those who had been instrumental in the unification of Karnataka.

Achievements

The State had made much progress since unification with rapid strides in almost all fields.

The State was in the forefront in the areas of information technology and science and technology, he said.Despite all these achievements, there was still much to achieve. The people of the State had to relentlessly strive to make the State a model for others.

“All of us should join together and work in unison to develop the State,” he said.

Six persons, serving the Government in various capacities, were conferred the Nagarika Seva Award on the occasion.

Participated

Police Commissioner Bhaskar Rao, MUDA and MCC Commissioner P. Manivannan, Chief Executive Officer of the zilla panchayat Kempe Gowda, zilla panchayat president Latha Siddashetty and officials of all departments were present on the occasion.
