It will become operational in two months; it makes lodging of complaints easier for public

DC’s office computerised for better governance

Priority to be given to infrastructure facilities

Udupi: Deputy Commissioner V. Ponnuraj said on Thursday that his office had been fully computerised and people could lodge their complaints under the “Janatavani” scheme, which would become operational in two months.

He was addressing the public on the Karnataka Rajyotsava Day after unfurling the National Flag and the State Flag organised by the District Administration, here.

Mr. Ponnuraj said that the aim of computerisation and the Janatavani was to help people from various villages register their complaints. It would facilitate better governance, he added. He said the Government proposed to convert the Udupi City Municipal Council (CMC) area into “Greater Udupi”. Under this proposal, the roads in the city would be widened for smooth movement of vehicular traffic. Land was being acquired for road-widening and public co-operation was needed to make it a success. Some organisations and individuals, who had helped the road widening process, would be felicitated after the completion of the project, Mr. Ponnuraj said. The Government had taken up a cleanliness campaign under which the garbage was being collected from every household for scientific processing under solid waste management. It was necessary to create infrastructure for the development of the district.

The 74th All India Kannada Sahitya Sammelana would be held here in December. It was necessary to provide better facilities to agricultural labourers and beedi workers. The district was celebrating the 10th anniversary of its formation.
