Social security month observed

Coordinators honoured for their contribution

Annual premium subsidy from Union Government


Coimbatore: Life Insurance Corporation of India, Coimbatore Division, recently organised a function to mark the observance of October as Social Security Month.

Meeting

The meeting that was organised to mark the Social Security Month was presided over by R. Palanisamy, Senior Divisional Manager of LIC Coimbatore Division. B. Bandhobadhyay, Director of Regional Textile Office, Coimbatore and S. Sumitha, District Programme Officer, Integrated Child Development Scheme were the chief guests.

During the current year, Coimbatore division covered as many as 7,372 lives under this scheme.

Contribution

Coordinators of various foundations, Alagusundaram, Ambika Jagatheesan, Sudhakar, Govindaraj and others were honoured for their contribution to the scheme.

A press release that was issued here by the Life Insurance Corporation said that milk producers, rickshaw pullers, auto drivers, construction workers, handloom weavers, agricultural workers, plantation workers, beedi workers and members of self-help groups could subscribe to Janashree Bima Yojana.

A group of more than 25 could join the scheme through non-Governmental organisations.

Premium

The annual premium would be Rs. 200 out of which Rs. 100 would be subsidised by the Union Government.

The benefits available under the scheme were Rs. 30,000 for natural death, Rs. 75,000 for deaths caused by accidents, Rs. 75,000 for permanent disability in accidents and Rs. 37,500 for partial disability.

Apart from this, a scholarship of Rs. 300 a quarter would be paid to children (maximum two) of the members who are studying in Standard IX to Plus- Two.
