HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh State Trading Corporation (APSTC) will henceforth be called Andhra Pradesh Trade Promotion Council (APTPC).
The APTPC proposes to invest Rs. 100 crore in the next three years to scale up its activities across the State. Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy formalised the rechristening of the State body by unveiling a plaque here on Thursday.
As part of its restructuring, the APSTC has been on a reform mode since early this year. It has restructured its asset base, manpower, and closed its unviable branches and units, besides fundamentally altering its charter. Dr. Reddy felt that APTPC would perform well in its new avatar. The new entity will act as a catalyst for development of industry, trade and commerce including agriculture and allied sectors instead of participating in the activities as a direct player. It will develop trade fair centres and convention facilities in all major cities and towns in the State to enable trade and industry to conduct exhibitions and to facilitate business interactions.
Logistic hubs
It will develop logistic hubs to include development of bonded warehousing, cold storages, air cargo complexes. It facilitates the conduct of trade fairs in the State, besides participating in such programmes across the world where the State has considerable interest. The APTPC will continue its Lepakshi Nandi notebook business.
