Sharad Yadav to raise Justice Sabharwal issue in Parliament
Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI: Janata Dal (United) president Sharad Yadav on Thursday said he would raise the issue of allegations against the former Chief Justice of India, Y.P. Sabharwal, during the winter session of Parliament and demand a CBI inquiry into it.
Addressing a press conference here, Mr. Yadav said the refusal of the Supreme Court to look into the allegations against the former Chief Justice was unjustified.
“It is now for the Union government to break its silence in the matter. It should not allow anybody to raise doubts about its intentions and to ensure judicial accountability in the democratic system,” he added.
CBI probe
Mr. Yadav said he would raise the demand for a CBI probe into the issue in Parliament and appealed to all political parties to press for a structured debate on the matter so that the UPA government held an inquiry.
