‘Mother India’ scriptwriter dies
Mumbai: Ali Raza, who wrote the script of the classic Hindi film Mother India, passed away on Thursday at the Nanavati Hospital here a after brief illness.
Raza, in his early eighties, was admitted to the hospital a week ago, a release said.
He began his career with Andaaz in 1949 starring Raj Kapoor, Dilip Kuamr and Nargis, directed by Mehboob Khan. He also wrote the script of Mother India starring Rajendra Kumar, Nargis and Sunil Dutt. His other noted scripts include Saraswati Chandra (1968), Sawan Bhadon (1970), Raja Jani (1972), Bhai Bhai, Reshma Aur Shera (1971) and Dus Numbri (1976). — PTI
