Mass cleaning drive launched

KANCHEEPURAM: The Chengalpattu Municipality has commenced a three-day mass cleaning drive.

Six tractors and two earth-movers were pressed into service in 10 wards on the first day of the operation on Friday. The garbage collected from these wards was dumped at the composite yard abutting the by-pass road.

To facilitate quick removal of the accumulated garbage, the town has been divided into two zones and earth-movers and tractors were hired, Municipal Commissioner S. Nedunchezhian said.
