Science contests on Tuesday

GULBARGA: The District Science Centre and the Megh Malhar Pratishtan here will organise an on-the-spot painting competition and a “Discover the science contest” for high school students on November 6 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sir C.V. Raman, Marie Curie and the discovery of X-rays.

According to a press release from the office of district science officer here on Friday, the topic for the on-the-spot painting competition is Sir C.V. Raman — his invention that brought him the Nobel prize, and the benefits of the discovery of X-rays to mankind.

In the “Discover the science contest”, students will have to search for answers to questions from the exhibits displayed at the science centre.

The release also said that students participating in the two contests should report at the centre for registration before 11 a.m. on Tuesday. Schools interested in sending students for the contests should send in their confirmation to the science centre by Monday.

On Wednesday, a popular science lecture has been organised at the centre and prizes will also be distributed to winners of the contests. An open-house quiz on general science will also be held for high school students on the day.
