8 year-RI for rape

PUDUCHERRY: Additional Assistant Sessions Judge N. Vaithianathan on Wednesday sentenced a 44-year-old man of Bhoomianpet to eight years of rigorous imprisonment for raping a four-and-a-half year-old girl in April 2006.

The judge convicted the accused, a carpenter, under Section 235 (2) of the Criminal Procedure Code of the offence punishable under Section 376 of Indian Penal Code .
