Training for unemployed youth

Krishnagiri: The State Government will conduct short-term training programme for unemployed youth covered under the Financial Assistance to Jobless Youth scheme in Tamil Nadu to help them get placement in industrial units and other establishments.

According to Collector Santhosh Babu, about 200 youths would be trained free of cost in Basic welding (Arc) at Government Industrial Training Institute, Hosur. Syllabus formulated by the Directorate General of Employment and Training, Ministry of Labour, Union Government for its Modular Employability Skill programme will form the base for the short-term course.

Mr. Babu said that candidates who had registered with any of the District Employment Offices in Tamil Nadu and receiving the monthly assistance could apply for the short-term training course. Candidates should have completed Plus Two. The age limit of the candidates should not exceed 40. However, this would not be applicable to candidates belonging to Adi Dravidar and denotified communities. The selected candidates would be given structured training of 60 to 320 hours depending upon the training module.
