The college is in the limits of Hinjli Assembly segment represented by Naveen Patnaik BERHAMPUR: Teachers and employees of Taratarini College at Purushottampur launched indefinite dharna in front of the college on Friday demanding validation of posts at the college and provision of grant-in-aid for it. This is one of the major colleges within the limits of the Hinjli Assembly segment represented by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. The staff of the college choose a right time for their agitation. The Chief Minister is expected to visit the college on November 6 to lay the foundation stone for a computer laboratory to be set up with a grant of Rs. 10 lakhs. The agitating staff of the college decided to submit a memorandum to the Chief Minister during his visit. The secretary of the non-grant-in-aid teachers and employees association of the college, R.C. Senapati, said the association was asking the State government to validate the posts of teachers appointed between 1993 and 1998 and provide grant-in-aid for payment of their salaries. The Taratarini College is a private college which gets financial grant from the State government. The classes at the college were disrupted due to the dharna by teachers and employees. Mr. Senapati said the teachers decided to continue dharna in batches so that classes could be conducted as usual. But the students’ union of the college, led by its president, Bhikari Patro, decided to support the demands of the teachers and staff of the college and boycotted the classes.
