VIJAYAWADA: The sixth biennial conference of the Union Bank Officers’ Congress (UBOC) – Andhra Pradesh will be held in the city on November 4. Rajya Sabha member and president of the Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) G. Sanjeeva Reddy will inaugurate the conference at Hotel Swarna Palace. General Managers of the Union Bank of India S.M. Nasir, L.N.V. Rao, Deputy General Managers R.B. Patel, C. Abraham and other officials will participate in the day-long deliberations. Addressing a press conference here on Friday, UBOC president and general secretary M.M. Bhaskara Rao and T. Ramabhadram, respectively, said that the meeting would discuss issues pertaining to the service conditions of the bank. The employees were demanding an alternative pension scheme and revival of the practice of providing jobs on compassionate grounds. “Many employees are sceptical of the present pension scheme and they have not opted for it.
