Special team to probe ASI’s killing

Special Correspondent

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government has constituted a 10-member team to investigate the recent murder of Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police M.I. Elias on the campus of NSS Hindu College, Changanassery.

The Deputy Superintendent of Police, Kanjirappally, will head the team, the office of Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said. (The murder had occurred following clashes between activists of the Student Federation of India and Akhil Bharatiya Vidhyarthi Parishad.)

The Thiruvananthapuram City Police Commissioner will inquire into the kicking of a woman at East Fort in the city by supporters of the hartal called for by the BJP on November 1. Meanwhile, the BJP ousted its worker R. Satheesh, Valiayasala, from the party in connection with the incident.

BJP State president P.K. Krishnadas said Satheesh was removed from the primary membership of the party for acting in a manner that damaged the reputation of the party. He said the party would not cooperate with the investigation by the team as the probe was part of a conspiracy to jail innocent people.
