Bonus for NTC workers

COIMBATORE: The National Textile Corporation (NTC) and the Joint Action Council of Coimbatore and Erode District Textile Mill Workers’ Unions arrived at an agreement on Wednesday on disbursement of bonus to the NTC mill workers.

According to the agreement, all the eligible workers will be given 8.33 per cent bonus for the year 2006-2007.

All permanent and non-permanent workers will get an advance of Rs. 3,000 each.

The advance amount will be deducted from the monthly wages for 10 months. The bonus amount will be disbursed by November 5.

A release from the union said that in the private mills, settlements were arrived at in most of the units in Coimbatore and Erode Districts. Workers would resort to direct action in those mills that fail to disburse bonus by November 5.
