“Sethu project on track”

MADURAI: The Sethusamudram Ship Channel Project was proceeding as per schedule and in all probability would be completed in the estimated time, said Union Minister of State for Statistics and Programme Implementation G. K. Vasan here on recently.

Briefing presspersons, he said that the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and Bharatiya Janata Party were creating unnecessary problems to stall the project. Responding to the AIADMK general secretary Jayalalithaa’s statement that only 15 per cent of work had been completed, he said that the Department of Programme Implementation had not released any figures recently in this regard and added that the figures referred to by the AIADMK leader were not the latest.

By projecting such false statistics, the AIADMK was trying to create a rift between two ministries, he said.

The Centre and State had been working well to complete the project on time, he said.
