HYDERABAD: Bomb disposal squads defused a powerful bomb with a timer device found at an open place near Surabhi colony near the Chandanagar railway station on Friday evening, warding off a major terrorist act. Municipal workers called in the police after they noticed a gunny bag containing the improvised explosive device around 4.30 p.m. The explosive charge, stated to be Powergel, (ammonium nitrate-based explosive) was connected to a quartz alarm clock and a motorcycle battery. The explosives were believed to be made in a factory at Nagpur in Maharashtra.
The explosive charges were packed and put in glass bottles and the electric detonators were connected to the motorcycle battery.
