MADURAI: HCL Technologies, a global information technology solutions provider, on Thursday announced its plan to establish a technology hub in Madurai.
Sixty acres of land near Madurai Kamaraj University has been identified for the hub, which is scheduled to be operational by 2009.
A press release issued here on Thursday said that similar hubs would be established at Nagpur, Lucknow and Chennai.
The first of these hubs at Noida was inaugurated on Thursday by the founder-chairman and chief strategy officer, Shiv Nadar, of HCL. The hubs would focus on developing technologies for the future and the company expects to generate revenues in excess of US $ 1 billion from them.
The hub’s design would adhere to ‘Green building’ norms and will also comply with the international standards in energy efficiency, safety and security.
HCL plans to invest over Rs. 1,000 crore in these hubs, the press release added.
