Vizag pugilists put up good show

Boxing Associations in the city congratulates them

VISAKHAPATNAM: Local boxers A. Santosh won silver medal and Sk. Rehaman claimed bronze medal while representing Andhra Pradesh in the 40th junior National boxing championship held at Warangal recently.

The Visakhapatnam District Amateur Boxing Association and others congratulated the two boxers, their coach I. Venkateswara Rao, assistant coaches Reddy Srinivasa Rao and V. Danayya. Santosh won the fly weight category silver and Rehman, the super heavy weight bronze.

Adds lustre

Three other boxers from Visakhapatnam who are with the Army and represented Services in the National championship made the district association and the local boxing lovers happy by claiming medals.

M. Venkatesh and P. Santosh Kumar won the feather and light welter weight categories gold medals respectively. P. Srinivasa Rao won the light welter bronze.

S.V. Sharma, G. Srinivasa Raju and G.V. Raviraju who is also secretary of the district association, officiated as ring officials in the championship.

The district boxers and other members of the team were congratulated by district association president I. Uma Maheswara Rao, Administrator of SAI STC here T. Kishore, District Sports Development Officer N. Surya Rao, general secretary of the East Coast Railway Sports Association B. Appanna Reddy at a function.
