The United States, the Soviet Union, India and China have about one half of the world’s population, the U.S. Commerce Department said in an announcement in Washington on October 31. One-sixth of the world’s population lived in Britain, Japan, Indonesia, West Germany, Brazil and Pakistan. Each of these countries had 50 million and more population.
