A sentence in a report “Saudi King’s visit starts on a sour note” (“International” page, October 31, 2007) was: “Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdul-Aziz’s four-day state visit to Britain — the first by a Saudi monarch in 20 years — nearly descended into a PR disaster after British Secretary of State David Miliband pulled out of one of the events because of family commitments, prompting the Saudis to downgrade their own representation for the occasion.” In the British political system, there has to be a full designation for the Secretary of State, unlike in the American system, where the Secretary of State is a post. It should have been “British Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs”.

Clue 22 Across (The Hindu Crossword 9058, November 1, 2007) was “11 Down. A philosophical doctrine that, along with 1, 11 Down has also been is also a guide to action (10, 11).” It should have been “11 Down. A philosophical doctrine that, along with 1, 11 Down is also a guide to action (10, 11).”
