G.V. Raja overpowers Vivekanand NEW DELHI: B.K. Sharan scored four goals as Bijapur’s Sainik School defeated Government Inter College, Chamoli, 6-1 in the Nehru junior hockey tournament at the Shivaji Stadium here on Friday. I.H. Ravi and C. Rahul were the other scorers for the winning team. Taran Rawat scored for the Chamoli boys. In another match, Sarveshwar Das Nagar Palika School, Rajnandgaon, defeated Sri Guru Nanak Khalsa School, Sri Ganganagar, 4-1. Shamshad Ahmad scored thrice and Tarun Yadav once. For the losing team, Surya Prakash found the mark. Later, Government High School, Mandla, drew 2-2 with Gyandeep Hindi High School, Gandhinagar. Sandeep Kumar and Chandresh scored for the Mandla school before Rahul Sharma and Sanjay Kushwaha restored parity. In the day’s last match, G.V. Raja Sports School, Thiruvananthapuram, overpowered Vivekanand College, Kolhapur, 4-3. R. Gokunnadh (two), E.J. Arun and M.P. Sahad scored for the winning team. For the Kolhapur team, Shaikh Salman Moula (two) and Kazi Amir Suhel Raju found the target. — Special Correspondent
