Suspense continues in Karnataka
P. Sunderarajan
NEW DELHI: Suspense continues over the formation of a Bharatiya Janata Party-Janata Dal (Secular) government in Karnataka, with the Union Cabinet not yet taking up the issue of revoking President’s Rule. This was stated by the Union Minister Priyaranjan Dasmunsi, after a Cabinet meeting on Friday.
Media reports had suggested that the Cabinet would decide on revoking President’s Rule that could pave the way for a new government.
Declining to comment on the new conditions set by the JD(S) for supporting the BJP-led coalition government, Mr. Dasmunsi said: “There is an 11 or 12-point programme. It is for the BJP to respond to it. We will not give any reaction.” He also refused to be drawn into any discussion on the Centre’s view on the formation of a new government.
