The Hindu-Young World Quiz on Monday

Kochi: The countdown is on for The Hindu-Young World Quiz ’07 to be held at A.J. Hall on the Kaloor-Kadavanthara road here on November 5.

The competition will get under way at 11 a.m. with a written preliminary round to select six teams for the second and final round. The team that wins the first-prize will be eligible to participate in the grand all-India final.

The quiz is open to students from classes 6 to 9. A school can send a maximum of three two- member teams. Schools should fill and send the entry cards that have been sent to them to the local office of The Hindu within the specified dates.

For the regional winners, the first prize is Rs.8,000, second Rs.6,000 and third Rs.4,000. The prize money for the national winners will be double the regional prize. There will be several other prizes in cash and kind at the regional and national levels for participants and audience.

Amity University is the national title-sponsor for the competition. Tara talcum powder and Lotte BooProo are the associate sponsors.

The other sponsors at the national level are GM Pens, Penguin, Encyclopaedia Britannica, State Bank of Travancore, Cycle Brand Agarbathis, Vizag Steel Plant, Tourism Malaysia, and Extramarks.com. Dabur-Real Mango is the beverage sponsor.

The event managers are Quizwalahs.

Nutrifud Cakes and Vijayalaxmi Cashew Co. are the State-level sponsors.

The regional sponsors are My Kingdom and Siemens.
