Mahabubnagar: Telugu Desam Party senior leaders expressed their displeasure over the maintenance of Social Welfare (SC) Girls Hostel at Shadnagar in Mahabubnagar district. They visited the hostel as part of their welfare yatra on Friday. TDP leaders, T. Devender Goud, Nagam Janardhan Reddy, Kadiyam Sri Hari, J. Pushparaj, Prathibha Bharathi came to the district on a two-day welfare yatra to visit the social welfare hostels in the district. Hostel visitAs soon as the team of Telugu Desam leaders came to Shadnagar, they proceeded to SC Girls Hostel but the inmates had left for school. The TD leaders went round the hostel building and expressed their dissatisfaction over the lack of basic amenities being provided to the inmates. Later, addressing a public meeting at Shadnagar, Telephone Exchange Grounds, they demanded the State Government to increase mess charges to Social Welfare hostels and to immediately release funds to meet the soap, oil and other needs of the inmates. Weaker sections They lashed at the Government over the prevailing pathetic conditions in the hostels. They said that among the population, weaker section occupied 80 per cent, of which, 40 per cent were illiterates. T his indicates the Government’s apathy towards weaker sections. As per their schedule, the TDP leaders after staying for a night at Mahabubnagar on Friday, will visit Jedcharla, Kalwakurthy and proceed to Nalgonda district on Saturday.
