Technical training programme on crop diversification, water management The group comprises farmers from Alwar, Tonk, Jaipur, Dausa and Ajmer districts JAIPUR: A 64-member group of farmers left here on Thursday for Tale village in Pune district of Maharashtra to attend a technical training programme on crop diversification, water management, capacity enhancement and promotion of horticulture. The workshop for farmers will be held from November 3 to 7. Rajasthan Agriculture Minister Prabhulal Saini, giving a warm send-off to the group, said agricultural experts of international repute would impart training to the farmers with emphasis on adoption of “hi-tech farming” in the desert State. The group comprises farmers from Alwar, Tonk, Jaipur, Dausa and Ajmer districts. Mr. Saini said a total of 500 farmers from all over the State would get training in the year-long series of programmes. He called upon the farmers to shift from traditional agriculture to modern and innovative farm practices. The Minister pointed out that 23 districts of the State had been selected under the National Horticulture Mission with the objective of improving the economic condition of farmers. He called upon the members of the group to get benefit of the five-day training programme and share their experiences with fellow villagers on their return. The farmers will be trained in operating green houses and growing various vegetables, flowers and other plants at the workshop. Joint Director (Horticulture) Sharat Godha said the farmers’ group would also visit the “Florex India” fair in Pune on Sunday.
