PROMOTING THE ARTS: Kavalam Narayana Panicker, vice-chairman of Kendra Sangeetha Nataka Akademi, releases a new monthly, ‘Koothambalam,’ by handing over a copy to G. Rajmohan, chairman of the State Pollution Control Board. THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Vice-chairman of the Kendra Sangeeta Nataka Academy Kavalam Narayana Panicker has stressed the need to recognise and understand the glorious traditions of art and culture in Kerala. Addressing a function got up here on Friday to release a monthly magazine ‘Koothambalam,’ he said politics and religion had displaced art from the centre stage of social life. He said it was time to revive the flagging traditions that were an integral part of life and culture in Kerala. Mr. Panicker released the periodical by handing over a copy to G. Rajmohan, chairman of the State Pollution Control Board. Chief editor of the publication Govindan S. Thampi said the magazine would be devoted to the promotion of art and art forms.
