Two-tumbler system still on, says Kolathur Mani

Staff Reporter

TIRUCHI: Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam State president Kolathur Mani on Thursday claimed that two-tumbler system existed in many places.

While condemning the practice, Mr. Mani said the State Government and Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi should look into the issue and eradicate the practice.

Addressing the media here, Mr. Mani claimed that the two-tumbler system continued to prevail in several tea stalls in Theni, Dindigul and Erode districts.

List submitted

The Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam had submitted a detailed list of such places to the official machinery and the Untouchability Eradication Wing. Even after 60 years of independence and notwithstanding laws passed to abolish untouchablility, the two-tumbler system continued, he said.
