TIRUCHI: As a mark of protest, members of Ordnance Factory Tiruchi Employees Union, affiliated to All-India Defence Employees Federation (AIDEF), received bonus payment at old rate of Rs. 2,500 for 30 days by wearing black badges, holding demonstrations and submitting a memorandum to the Defence Secretary.
Enhance bonus ceiling
The Union urged the Central Government to extend to the AIDEF the Payment of Bonus Act 1965 enhancing the bonus payment ceiling from Rs. 2,500 to Rs. 3,500. The enhancement of the bonus payment ceiling before Deepawali would benefit 30 lakh Central Government employees belonging to the Railways, Defence and Postal Departments only if the Centre issues a separate executive order, Union general secretary P. Thiyagarajan said in a statement issued here on Thursday.
