Cases against 10 advocates

For allegedly indulging in violence and ransacking property room


CHENNAI: The Saidapet police have registered cases against 10 advocates for allegedly indulging in violence and ransacking the property room on the Saidapet magistrate court premises on Thursday evening.

Property damaged

According to police, some of the members of the Saidapet Bar Association damaged parked vehicles and hurled stones at the nearby sub-jail premises, after advocate N. Thangadurai was arrested by police for his involvement in the assault on V Metropolitan Magistrate S. Muruganantham at Egmore on October 31.

Following the incidents, the IV Metropolitan Magistrate, Sarojini Ravindran, lodged a complaint with the Saidapet police.

Special teams

Commissioner of Police G. Nanchil Kumaran has said that special teams had been constituted to investigate the assault case.
