CHENNAI: S. Prem Prakash of Coimbatore won the State billiards title for the 16th time, beating R. Girish of the Reddy Global Services 1704-1088 in the final of the Abirami Mega Mall-TNBSA State-ranking tournament at the TNBSA premises on Thursday. Prem, attached to the Champions Billiards Academy, started on a leisurely note, allowing Girish to dominate initially with breaks of 92, 81 and 68 to lead by 250 points at the end of the first session. Banking on his experience, Prem rallied brilliantly to win by 616 points. The Coimbatore player showed his strength in the top table game and with breaks of 122, 102, 143, 90 and 74 wrapped up the match. The two finalists will represent Tamil Nadu in the forthcoming Nationals in Hyderabad.
