BIDAR: The Lokayukta police on Saturday raided a house and a farmhouse belonging to an assistant executive engineer, Karanja Project, Janawada subdivision, and unearthed assets worth over Rs. 1 crore. Lokayukta Superintendent, Gulbarga, B.N. Neelgar told presspersons here on Saturday that during the raids on the house and the farmhouse belonging to Lakshman Rao, the officials seized gold ornaments worth Rs. 2.25 lakh, silver articles worth Rs. 6,500 and Rs. 23,900 in cash besides others documents. He said Mr. Rao had acquired property disproportionate to his known sources of income. FarmhouseHe said the farmhouse was located at Hoshalli in Jahirabad taluk and the house was at Gurunanak Colony in Bidar city. The two-storeyed house was worth Rs. 50 lakh. Mr. Neelgar said that two motorcycles, one four-wheeler, furniture, computer, two television sets, video camera and other electronic equipment and a licensed revolver were found during the raid. Mr. Neelgar added that Mr. Rao joined government service in 1986 as an assistant engineer.
