Demonstration held against price rise

PUDUCHERRY: Activists of the local unit of the Communist Party of India (CPI) staged a demonstration on Thursday to protest against the increase in the price of essential commodities supplied through fair price shops.

National executive committee member of the party R. Nallakannu said the price of several commodities were much higher at the Public Distribution System outlets than the open market.

He sought government intervention to reduce the prices immediately.
