Bhubaneswar: Unable to trace suspended top cop B. B. Mohanti who has remained elusive since August, the State Government has decided to put up advertisement in national and local dailies asking him to cooperate with the administration according to the law of the land. The Home Department had already passed an order in this regard, said a senior official adding that advertisements would soon be released for publication. Mohanti, Orissa’s senior most police officer who has been accused of helping his rape convict son Bitihotra jump parole from a jail in Rajasthan in December last year, has remained elusive to police of both the States. Mohanti was not available to receive the suspension letter which was issued in the wake of a non-bailable warrant (NBW) issued against his name. A senior official told PTI this was for the first time the government was going to issue public notice in newspapers against a senior police officer. Such notices were issued against hardcore criminals, he said. -PTI
