Two more persons sleeping on the pavement hurt Toll involving Bluelines reaches 103 this year NEW DELHI: A speeding Blueline bus driven by a helper crushed a teenager to death and injured two young men sleeping outside a fruit juice shop at R.K Puram here on Saturday. With this, the death toll involving Blueline buses has gone up to 103 this year. The accident took place around 6-30 in the morning when the bus mounted the pavement and ploughed into the victims -- Lallan (17), Bechan (21) and Ansaruddin (35) -- sleeping outside a fruit juice shop counter near Som Vihar Apartments opposite Sector 7 of R.K. Puram. The bus, plying between Mori Gate and Munirka, dragged Lallan along a few metres before hitting the boundary wall of the apartments and coming to a halt. The driver vanished from the spot after the accident. Lallan was declared brought dead at Safdarjung Hospital, while Bechan and Ansaruddin were admitted with injuries. Bechan was discharged later in the day. Ansaruddin, recuperating in Ward No. 25 of the hospital, recalled the horrific accident: “I had just woken up and Lallan and Bechan were sleeping when I suddenly noticed the bus coming towards us at high speed. Before I could get out of its way, the bus rammed into the juice shop counter and tossed me in the air. I lost consciousness on hitting the road and do not remember what happened thereafter.” Mohammad Saajib, the owner of the shop, said: “I was waiting at a bus stop near the shop when I saw the bus coming from the direction of Sangam cinema and veering towards the left in a bid to overtake another bus. The driver lost control and ploughed into the three. Soon after the accident, passers-by gathered at the spot and hurled stones and bricks badly damaging the bus. The situation was brought under control after the police reached the spot.” The police said the bus was driven by helper Hari Kishan while returning from a CNG station after refuelling the bus. Both Hari Kishan and driver Kishan Kumar have been arrested and a case of causing death due to rash and negligent driving has been registered. DTC victimIn another accident, a 30-year-old pedestrian was run over by a Delhi Transport Corporation bus on Mehrauli-Gurgaon road at Sangam Vihar around 9 in the morning. The deceased is yet to be identified. The bus plying between Okhla and Mehrauli has been impounded and driver Vikram Singh arrested.
