Kakinada: The District Co-operative Marketing Society (DCMS) has taken up the sale of Diwali crackers, for the first time this year, duly obtaining the license, according to Reddy Veera Venkata Satya Prasad chairman of the DCMS. At a press conference here on Saturday, he said, they were offering the Diwali crackers directly taking the supplies from the manufacturing units in Sivakasi extending 75 per cent rebate to the people.
The sales were being made in the premises of DCMS godowns in Nagamalli Thota junction. He claimed that the DCMS came out of red and able to pay the salaries to staff promptly. The DCMS, he said was now busy in the sale of certified paddy seed of AP seeds Corporation and already the seed business turnover has exceeded Rs.1 crore. It also supplied 100 tonnes of Neem cake to government and orders on hand for supply of another 300 tonnes cake to the Horticulture Department. Prasad said they were planning to supply bleaching powder to all the panchayats in the State .
