CUTTACK: The ‘assault’ on CPI (M) State secretary Janardan Pati in Bhubaneswar on Thursday had its echo in Cuttack on Saturday when the local party activists gheraoed the police. They were demanding immediate arrest of the remaining accused persons who had ‘attacked’ their leader. The capital police have arrested six persons in this connection. DGP Gopal Chandra Nanda, receiving a memorandum from party activists, assured that action would be taken against the accused persons and further arrests, if necessary, would be made. The CPI (M) workers later demonstrated in front of the All India Radio (AIR) office, as they believe that most of the accused persons who ‘attacked’ Pati belong to All India Radio. Submitting yet another memorandum to the AIR Director, they demanded that the accused persons belonging to AIR should be dismissed from services.
