Better support price sought for paddy

Thiruvananthapuram: Agriculture Minister Mullakkara Ratnakaran has asked the Centre to make the support price of paddy equal to that of wheat. In a fax message to the Union Agriculture Minister on Saturday, he said it was discriminatory to have increased the support price of paddy by just Rs.50 per quintal (to Rs.695) when that of wheat was increased by Rs.250 per quintal (to Rs.1000). — Special Correspondent
