COMBATIVE APPROACH: Senior BJP leaders D.V. Sadananda Gowda (left), K.S. Eshwarappa, M. Venkaiah Naidu, B.S. Yediyurappa, and H.N. Ananth Kumar at the indefinite dharna in Bangalore on Saturday. BANGALORE: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State unit president D.V. Sadananda Gowda on Saturday reiterated his charge that the Congress was blocking the Government formation. He was participating in the party’s three-day round-the-clock dharna in Bangalore to exert pressure on Governor Rameshwar Thakur to invite its leader and former Deputy Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa to form the Government. Mr. Sadananda Gowda told The Hindu that the protest would conclude on Monday. He said the Congress, which had lost the 2004 elections badly, had no mandate to rule the State. The party would continue its “save democracy” campaign in the district and taluk headquarters and expose the “dirty political tricks” played by the Congress. Earlier, the party had opted for an indefinite agitation until the Governor invited Mr. Yeddyurappa to form the Government. The party would launch its agitation from Kolar on Tuesday and cover Mandya and Mysore before Deepavali. BJP general secretary H.N. Ananth Kumar blamed the Congress for the present political chaos and said the State Congress leaders had been exerting pressure on the Centre and the Governor for dissolution of the Legislative Assembly. Mr. Yeddyurappa, who was observing “mauna vratha”, did not speak. The former BJP Ministers Katta Subramanya Naidu, R. Ashok, Jagadish Shettar, and Shivananda Naik participated in the agitation.
