MADURAI: A writ petition has been filed before the Madras High Court seeking permission for a public meeting to be addressed by Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) General Secretary, Vaiko, at Batlagundu in Dindigul district on November 13.
Justice N. Paul Vasanthakumar on Friday directed the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Nilakottai sub-division, to file a detailed counter affidavit and adjourned the matter to November 5.
In his affidavit, the Dindigul district secretary of MDMK, N. Selvaraghavan, said that the DSP had refused permission for the meeting apprehending law and order problem and citing a ban enforced under Section 30 (2) of the Police Act.
