Panel to review wages for bidi workers

Special Correspondent

JAIPUR: The Rajasthan Government on Saturday appointed a committee to consider revision of the minimum wages for bidi workers. The committee will submit its recommendations to the Minimum Wages Advisory Board within a month.

State Principal Secretary (Labour and Employment) Lalit Pawar said the rates proposed for minimum wages would be deliberated by the committee, headed by the Labour Commissioner, after an extensive study.

The Advisory Board would recommend to the State Government inclusion of anganwadi workers in the Minimum Wages Act and also fix minimum wages for domestic helps.

The Advisory Board’s meeting was attended by Labour Commissioner Surajmal Meena, Additional Labour Commissioner Bajrang Lal, Joint Labour Commissioner Dhanraj Sharma, and other members.
