PUDUKOTTAI: Presentation of vocational awards to seven women achievers marked the Pudukottai Innerwheel Club’s celebration of district chairperson Ruhirani Ramasubramaniam’s official visit. Club president S. Anuradha presided over the function.
Ms. Ramasubramaniam presented the awards to Tamilarasi (best teacher); S.P.B. Poorvika of Sembattur School (best sports person); Bakyalakhmi of Bakya Beauty Parlour (best craftswoman); Senthamilselvi attached to the Blood Bank of the Government Headquarters Hospital, Pudukottai (best nurse); Umamaheswari of Swathi Pearls and Diamonds (best woman entrepreneur); Valarmathi of Nandhini’s Beauty Parlour (best beautician); and Akilandeswari (best motivator award).
The club conducted competitions for students of Rajagopalapuram Municipal High School and Ms. Ramasubramaniam gave away the prizes to the winners. She also distributed uniforms to students belonging to the weaker sections, vocational training certificates to women, who completed training in making artificial jewellery, and computer to the Government Ranee’s High School. The club also provided lunch to 103 students of Government Special School for Deaf and Dumb children.
Ms. Ramasubramaniam commended the welfare projects implemented by the club. Secretary of the club Latha presented the report on the achievements of the club.
