JAIPUR: The Rajasthan Government on Saturday signed a letter of intent with Cisco Systems for providing training in networking technology through a regional academy to be established at the Centre for Electronic Governance here. The agreement will be put into effect from next month. State Principal Secretary (Technical Education) G. S. Sandhu signed the LoI in the presence of Minister of State for Technical Education Vasudeo Devnani. Regional Manager Lokesh Mehra signed the LoI on behalf of Cisco Systems. Mr. Devnani said the networking field had a tremendous potential for employment, with an estimated requirement of 3.2 lakh employees in the State in near future. The State Government’s partnership with the private sector in the discipline would ensure the availability of trained manpower for the field. In addition to the regional academy, 13 local academies are proposed to be established at the Government Polytechnic Colleges and Industrial Training Institutes under the agreement. Mr. Sandhu said there would be no burden on the State exchequer with all of these academies being self-financed. The Director of the Centre for Electronic Governance M.P. Punia said the students getting training in networking technology would get employment in prestigious institutions.
