THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Signalling the commencement of the tourism season in the State, 300 more foreign tourists arrived at the city’s international airport on Saturday. The group was welcomed by the Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC) chairman Cherian Philip. This is the second batch of tourists from the U.K. to arrive here in as many days. On Friday, 235 tourists had arrived in a chartered flight from the U.K. Saturday’s flight had been chartered by Thomas Cook and My Travels and will ferry tourists to Kerala every Saturday till April, a press note issued here said. The tourists who arrived on Saturday have booked hotels in Kovalam, Chowara and Poovar. According to Mr. Philip, the government expects a 20 per cent increase in tourist arrivals this year.
