HYDERABAD: Yet another irrigation project, Alisagar, which was taken up under Jalayagnam, is being dedicated to the nation by Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy on Sunday.
This long-pending dream project of Nizamabad district will immediately provide irrigation to 54,000 acres in Navipet, Ramzal, Edpalli, Nizamabad, Dichpalli and Maklur mandals, and cater to the drinking water needs of 89 villages. As against its estimated cost of Rs. 226 crore, the Government has spent Rs. 214 crore so far to give Alisagar its present shape with a massive pump house at Kosli that lifts 3 tmcft of water from the Godavari and pipeline networks to ensure supplies to the fields. A press release issued by the Chief Minister’ office said that 4 lakh acres out of the 11.9 lakh acres of ayacut created so far by the Jalayagnam projects lies in Telangana.The Chief Minister reiterated that his Government would take up Pranahita-Chevella project.
