Withdrawn: The former Deputy Chief Minister, B.S. Yeddyurappa, addressing his supporters after the BJP ended its dharna, in Bangalore on Sunday. Bangalore: Citizens of Bangalore who have been held up in endless traffic jams in the central business district for the last two days can heave a sigh of relief as the Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday, on the advice of Governor Rameshwar Thakur, ended its round-the-clock dharna in front of the Gandhi statue here. The party was staging the dharna in protest against the perceived delay by the Governor in inviting its leader B.S. Yeddyurappa to form a government. The Governor, it is learnt, sternly reproached the party for putting the public to inconvenience for the last two days. The dharna had choked roads near and around Mahatma Gandhi Road, which is already congested owing to the work on the Bangalore Metro Rail. The BJP leaders, who called on the Governor in the afternoon, returned to the dharna venue and went into a huddle right behind the statue of Mahatma Gandhi for nearly two hours. They later told presspersons that they were ending the dharna as the Governor had assured them of sending a report to the Centre in a day or two. They would now adopt a “wait-and-watch” strategy. The BJP had earlier planned to launch another “rath yatra” to different parts of the State from Monday from Malur in Kolar district. However, the party cancelled this plan after its meeting with the Governor.
