BERHAMPUR: A new ‘Silk Route Circuit’ tourism package has been proposed for Ganjam district. The State Government has sent in a proposal to the Central Tourism Minister about the project this week. As per the plans of the State Government the silk route circuit tourism development project would cost around Rs. 9.14 crores.’ The tourism package has been proposed in Ganjam district on the lines of existing ‘Golden Triangle’ comprising Puri-Konark-Bhubaneswar.Berhampur, also known as the silk city would become the crux of the tourism circuit. The package would include a trip to tourist destinations like Pati Sonepur, Siddha Bhairavi, Tampra, Rambha, Narayani, Nirmal Jhara, Tara Tarini, Padmanabhpur, Panakhela, Bala Kumari and so on. Under the proposed project all the tourist destinations would be developed simultaneously so they could be marketed outside the State under a single tourism package. The proposed tourism circuit package would be marketed outside the State along with the famous Golden Triangle circuit package. Tourists availing the Golden Triangle package can take the Silk Route package as well. Union Minister of State for Rural Development Chandrasekhar Sahu is also taking interest in the project as he met Union Minister for Tourism Ambika Soni on Friday to pass the project as soon as possible.
