Kozhikode: The Department of Forests and Wildlife will organise the Vanadeepam project for students of two schools in the district at its regional headquarters at Mathottam here on Tuesday. Fifty students from the Medical College Higher Secondary School and Azhchavattom Government Higher Secondary School will take part in the programme to study nature. This will be the second programme of the Vanadeepam project, said V.K. Sreevalsan, Assistant Forest Conservator, Social Forestry Exhibition, Kozhikode. The Social Forestry Exhibition wing of the department launched the project to make the younger generation aware of forest and wildlife. Sidappa, Social Forestry Wing Forest Conservator; K.V. Subramaniyam, Vigilance Conservator; Jaffer Pallot, Zoological Survey of India scientist; and K.P. Mammu, Social Forestry Forest Range Officer; will take classes for the students. The participants will get an opportunity to visit the State’s first Community Reserve at Kadalundi-Vallikunnu in the afternoon.
