BJP threatens to stall Parliament proceedings

Party demands Rs.1, 000 MSP for paddy

MAHABUBNAGAR: Bharatiya Janata party state president Bandaru Dattatreya threatened the Central Government that his party members in parliament would stall the proceedings in the ensuing parliament sessions demanding Rs.1, 000 minimum support price to paddy on a par with wheat.

Addressing a dharna programme at Jedcharla cross roads on National Highway –7 as a part of “Rythu porubata” undertaken by BJP State committee on Sunday afternoon, he said that he would speak to his central leaders L. K. Advani and Rajnath Singh over the demand of Rs.1000 support price to paddy and urge them to take decision to raise the issue in parliament and stall the proceedings till the government gave assurance to enhance the MSP to Rice on a par with wheat.

He asked the Congress MPs from the State and Union Minister S. Jaipal Reddy, who belonged to Mahabubnagar whether they were ready to tender resignation to their office posts and positions in case they failed to achieve Rs.1000 MSP to paddy.

He said that Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy has miserably failed to prevail upon the Central Government on the issue of Rs.1,000 MSP for rice. BJP senior leaders Shouri David, Sugunakar Rao, D. Koteshwara Rao, and others also spoke.
