Staff Reporter

Sangareddy: A blast induced in the middle of a farm land by few merchants for the sake of stones for construction, damaged many houses in two villages. The incident occurred on the outskirts of Gundlamachunoor village of Hathnoora mandal on Friday night. At around eight in the night a deafening sound woke up the residents of Gundlamachunoor and Chandanagar. However the blast that took place on Friday night was so intense that a large number of houses in the vicinity developed cracks. Speaking to The Hindu Mugulaiah whose newly constructed house was damaged due to the impact of the blast said that every ran away from their houses that there was an earthquake.

Houses of Neerudi Laxmi and the hut of Ramulu also developed deep cracks due to the blast. According to the villagers three merchants Pentiah, Arjun and Manik Reddy conducted the blast in the farm of Mondi Narsimhulu without proper permission. Even though the villagers advised the trio to seek permission from the Revenue inspector they went ahead with the blast.

The villagers submitted a memorandum to the Joint collector for compensation. However an inspection to ascertain the damage is yet to begin. The RDO and Circle inspector visited both the villages on Saturday. The farmers complained that the site still has 100 to 200 gelatin sticks left and a spark or pressure could trigger another blast that could hurt some one in the future. The trio who caused the blast are absconding.
